Parsonage Colts FC 3-2 Harold Hill
16/09/07
Parsonage
Colts 3 – 2 Harold Hill
On
a sunny but very windy afternoon, the two teams played a very hard fought game.
Parsonage played against the wind in the 1st half causing Edobor to narrowly miss with only a couple of minutes gone.
It only took until the 8th minute for the deadlock to be broken. A
goal kick out by Harold Hill was well taken down by Mallet, who then finished
leaving the keeper with no chance, 1 – 0.
Parsonage
then had a bad spell as Harold Hill won a free kick in Parsonage’s half on 20
minutes, which they sent over the defence to equalise, 1 – 1. On 22 minutes,
again Harold Hill broke through the Parsonage defence, crossing for a simple
tap in, making the score 1 – 2. Twice, Mallet was unlucky with the wind taking
his shots just wide of the Harold Hill net. The Parsonage defence was made to
work hard, with Benmore, Grigg,
Okoh and Ayres being kept busy by the Harold Hill
forwards. Just before half time Ditkevicius had a fine
shot stopped by the unsighted Harold Hill keeper.
The
second half started better for Parsonage and good work by Abutoh
saw him cross the ball on the right to the advancing Mallet to get his second
and so equalising on the 32nd minute. Pickett and the eventually
injured Saunders made good runs, giving Parsonage the upper hand. In the
38th minute, Ayres won the ball out to the right and a neat one,
two, with Yexley, saw Ayres’ cross into the box
handled by a Harold Hill player. The resulting penalty was coolly taken by
Mallet to give him his first hat trick of the season, 3 – 2 to Parsonage.
A
wonderful penalty save by Chafer on 45 minutes, after a handball in the area,
kept Parsonage ahead. Shayle switched from left
defence to midfield with Pickett moving the other way, Yexley
put in some fine crosses and Edobor was full of
running late on and a final save from Chafer gave Parsonage Colts the points. Okoh was named man of the match for a good overall
defensive performance.
Parsonage:
Chafer, Okoh, Ayres, Shayle,
Grigg, Pickett, Mallet, Yexley,
Ditkevicius, Saunders, Edobor,
Benmore and Abutoh.
