FRIENDLY MATCH
31-03-2007
A great enterprising friendly with the two top teams of the first and second divisions meeting for the first time this season, which would have certainly helped both teams in their run downs to there last league games of the season.
Parsonage Colts had most of the play and created the better chances in the first Period. They missed two early chances before James Tevenan ran down the left wing and struck a powerful ball home. 1-0.
James Tevenan and Matt Meehan worked tirelessly all through this period, putting ball after ball in across the goal at every opportunity, Chances were being made but Parsonage lacked that cutting edge, no further goals were scored. H.T. 0-1
The second half was rather a scrappy period for the first minutes, with each team having about equal amount of possession but Parsonage stepped it up with 10 minutes remaining and probed on the edge of the Woodford penalty area, only for the home defence to hold firm. Oliver Bessex had glorious chance to put Parsonage 2-0 in front following a fine shot from Callum O`Sullivan (which was parried out by the Woodford goalkeeper) steering his shot onto the crossbar and the following diving header to be kick off the line. F.T. 0-1
Period 3
Woodford are a fine fighting team and even with key players missing today, were improving all the time, they started brightly and penned Parsonage inside their own half with a sustained periods of pressure. They were almost rewarded when the ball broke to there centre forward Lee Hursit who lashed a 20 yard scorcher that was tipped over the crossbar by the flying Parsonage goalkeeper.
Parsonage also had there chances in this half with a great shot from Ryan Grigg from outside the box which resulted in a great save from the Woodford goalkeeper. Also a goalmouth scramble which was kicked off the line.
With 5 minutes to go the fighting sprit paid off for Woodford, with a great ball through the middle and an equally great finish by Lee Hursit making the scores level. 1-1
Parsonage had dropped their guard and 2 Minutes later a defensive era sent the Woodford centre forward clear once again, with a one on one with the goalkeeper, tucked it away for a brace. 2-1
We would like to thank Rob Fox and his Foxes and wish him all the best for the rest of the season.
