PARSONAGE COLTS  1   AZTEC A   0

LEAGUE MATCH

 04-03-2007

The Aztec side this year have proved this season to be a tough cookie to crack,  but the first half was a football lesson from the Parsonage Colts, the second half was a different affair.

The opening 20 minutes will give the players a lot of confidence and proved doubters wrong about the strength and depth of the Parsonage squad. As Aztec tried their hardest,  on this occasion just could not get near the home side.

Parsonage won the midfield battles, precise passing and doubling up in packs to win back possession. Playing to that level would have beaten most sides in the Echo league, the only thing that lacked composure was the final finish. Midway through the first half the deadlock was broken with a more than deserved strike from Jack Clark, which put the seal of approval on the first half’s performance. But realistically I think it should have been at least 2 or 3.  H.T. 1-0.

The Second half seemed to be a completely different game, as Parsonage let the shutters down on more than one occasion Aztec looked very dangerous and could have equalised, hitting the post, and a great through ball which should have been put away with a one on one with the goalkeeper. but Conner kept his composer and made a great save. For the rest of the match Parsonage had few opportunities but held firm at the back to secure the points needed. An excellent match with both teams showing what their made of. F.T. 1-0.

When Parsonage has struggled this year it has been when the team has not started at a pace. Some teams start quickly, score first and make the remainder of the match very difficult and sometimes you feel with the time factor that’s involved in this level of football, once one goes in there just isn’t time to get the team motivated to equalise and win, with Parsonage this is not the case once the bullet has been bitten, goal down or not, all attitudes change, as in the Ascot and Senrab away games. Let’s hope we can keep the momentum going for our last 3 games of the season with a trophy at the end of it. Good luck lads.
