U11 PREMIER CUP WINNERS
PARSONAGE COLTS 4-3 INTERWOOD

Congratulations to the boys of Parsonage Colts on winning the "Echo" junior football league cup.  You truly are the deserved champions boys, and we are all extremely proud of you, and your performance on pitch today. 

   Throughout the first half play was fast and furious.  Within the first ten minutes of play Abutoh had had a near miss, and Edobor had hit the cross bar.  Parsonage meant business.  Our first goal came from a mature piece of football where Edobor laid a beautiful pass to Mallett who floated it into the net.  Minutes later Abutoh scored a terrific goal, only to have it disallowed.  Despite this cruel decision Abutoh battled on and he was rewarded within a couple of minutes with a goal that was undisputable.  Chafer was tested on many occasions by the Interwood boys, and called upon to make some fine saves.  It was Ayres who put away Parsonage's third goal.  The Interwood keeper came out and Ayres, after winning the ball lobbed it over the keeper's head.  This took us into the half time 3-0 up.

   Whether it was a touch of complaisance, or the urgency of the Interwood boys that did it, nevertheless the second half was a very different game.  Within two minutes of play Chafer was lobbed by an outstanding strike. Interwood were now playing with meaning, so much so that within five minutes they had scored their second goal.  Both teams were playing some fine flowing football and looked evenly contested.  Chafer was called upon again, and made an excellent save.  Then came the all important equaliser.  A powerful shot from the Interwood striker produced a fantastic third goal for our opponants.  The score at full time stood 3-3.

   Extra time was filled with intense pressure for every boy on that pitch.  Each boy played with determination and purpose.  Neither team had many clear cut chances. It was Abutoh who had the golden chance and who, in the fourth minute of the second half  of extra time netted the winner for Parsonage.

   Our congratulations go to the boys of Interwood who made for very worthy opponents.  Thank you for a great final.
