LAKEVIEW FC TOURNAMENT

RUNNERS UP

08/07/07

Parsonage 0 - 0 Leaside Colts

Our opening game of the tournament had both teams deadlocked. Yexley had the first shot of the game early on. Chafer made a fine save with his feet. The best move of the match involved one touch play between Clark and Yexley, leading to a Heinrich-Amenu shot just wide.

Result 0 - 0

Parsonage 0 - 0 Tigers C

The second match couldn't get us a result either. The boys had several chances with shots saved by Yexley and Pickett. Okoh had the best chance of the game, he was excellent in taking on the Tigers defence and wriggled his way through two, before squeezing in a cross that the goalie could only tip onto the cross bar and keep out.

Result 0 - 0

Parsonage 2 - 1 Tigers Yellows

Our first win at last! Yexley and Mallett had a good interchange, leaving Mallett with only the keeper to beat, 1 - 0. Chafer kept the boys in the game with a fine save assisted by Grigg, which unfortunately the referree saw as a rule break and awarded Tigers a penalty, which they coolly put away, 1 - 1. Another two brilliant saves by Chafer, both finger tip saves, inspired the boys to victory. Good pressure by Grigg on the Tigers' keepers throw out, led to the ball bouncing loose to Heinrich-Amenu to convert, making it 2 - 1.

Result 2 - 1

Parsonage 3 - 0 Waltham Forest

Our fourth game and another win! All the boys were alive for this one. We started with a wild shot on goal and the resulting corner, superbly taken by Pickett, was planted directly onto the head of Heinrich-Amenu, for 1 - 0. A good pass from Clark to Pickett made it 2 - 0 with Pickett converting. Chafer gave a good throw out to Mallett, who linked with Clark, his pass found Heinrich-Amenu, who's shot was saved. The third goal came from Clark being alive to the goalies throw out, he intercepted it and with one touch set himself up to put the ball past the keeper.

Result 3 - 0

Parsonage 0 - 0 SS Barking

Our last match in the league saw another deadlock for the boys but was not for the want of trying!! A good cross from Mallett to Heinrich-Amenu had his shot saved. A goal line clearance from Shayle at the other end stopped Barking from scoring. The boys played some good football with Okoh instigating a few good moves from the defence, one especially finding Heinrich-Amenu, which ended with a Yexley shot on goal. A superb cross from Yexley found Pickett, who's excellent pass to Heinrich-Amenu saw another shot saved!

The point from this game, however, and our goal difference left Parsonage top of their league and so a play off final with Woodford loomed.

Result 0 - 0.

Play Off Final

Parsonage 1 - 3 Woodford

A final with our old adversaries (Aztec) began with the Parsonage boys up for the fight. Clark began by putting Heinrich-Amenu through with a brilliant pass only for the shot to be saved. Soon after, Mallett took a corner and pin pointed his cross onto Heinrich-Amenu's head for the opener, 1 - 0. Both teams applied good pressure and the action was end to end, however Woodford got their break with a bit of a goal mouth scramble, to equalise 1 - 1.

The second half began in the same way but from a goal throw out, a very quick Woodford striker raced in to steal the ball, crossing quickly to wrong foot Chafer who had no chance, to put Woodford in the lead 1 - 2. Parsonage did some good defending with Okoh and Grigg keeping Woodford at bay. A Mallett free kick was blocked and then shortly after, Woodford broke from their own half to out number the Parsonage defence and put the game beyond doubt at 1 - 3.

Well done to Woodford for a tough game and a deserved victory.

Result 1 - 3
