ECHO LEAGUE MATCH

Each year there is talk regarding Under 10’s and 11’s stepping up to “9 aside” before graduating to 11 aside at Under 12’s.  If the powers to be were at this match it would have surely convinced them that Mini Soccer should not be played at Under 10 age groups.  For this match the smallish pitch didn’t help but its now very apparent that the boys have out grown these little pitch’s and tiny goals (they looked so big once upon  a time).  These Mini Soccer pitches create no space for players to express themselves and passing is now very limited due to very little space on the pitch.  The ball seems to be constantly out of play as boys now run it out of play because of the narrow widths or over hit passes/crosses/clearances due to their increased power and the small pitch size.

Anyway as for the game.  UPR’s formation of 1-3-3 , saw them get lots of players behind the ball and to be fair they coped well in defending their very congested half.  A good competitive game of few chances saw UPR open the scoring midway through the first half, as a free-kick was not cleared by Parsonage and a UPR player was happy to tap in on the goal line.

The 2nd half saw Parsonage push into the UPR half but UPR cleared their lines very well.  With 3 minutes left Callum O’Sullivan’s run and cross down the right was turned in on the line by a UPR player.  I think everyone at the game will agree a draw was the right result.

The one point a piece didn't help the Parsonage bid to become Champions for the third time or UPR's bid to avoid relegation.
