Buckhurst Hill  2   v   Parsonage Colts  2

Friendly

Played Sun 21 Aug 2005

Firstly it’s always a pleasure to play Buckhurst Hill.  Friendly kids, nice Manager, football the way its meant to be played and a sporting group of parents who don’t scream and shout out at every opportunity.

Unfortunately we could only field 4 out of  9 members of next years squad due to illness and holidays.  It would have been nice to have played a competitive match with a full squad as both teams have this year been forced into making many changes to their squads and the result would have given both Managers an indication as to what to expect next season.  It wasn’t to be and rather than call the game off, Parsonage borrowed players from a couple of others clubs so that the game could go ahead.

Parsonage started the brightest and begged back Hill into their own half for long periods.  Six shots went wide for Parsonage as 4 players were all guilty of missing the target when nicely placed (tut, tut).  Parsonage were made to pay as Hills Callum picked up the ball on the half way line and turned to see that the Parsonage defence had evaporated. He sprinted towards goal and hit a lovely shot passed the advancing keeper.  Parsonage deservedly levelled from a close range effort from their stand in striker.  1-1 half time.

The second half was more even with both teams moving the ball around nicely and attacking at every opportunity.  Hill made the break through as the very impressive number 7 (where did he come from Brad?) skipped past two Parsonage players and finished well.  Parsonage never gave up and saw 4 efforts go within inches of the Hill post.  Right at the end the Hill keeper cleared a goal kick which fell into the path of Ryan Mallet, who cleverly chipped the advanced keeper to bring the enjoyable game to a sporting draw.

Well done to Brad who has lost over half of his first team squad, but has managed to rebuild his team once more.  Parsonage wish Buckhurst Hill all the best for the forthcoming season.

Also thanks to the players who helped us out. You all done extremely well.  Thank-You.
