Parsonage 2 v 1 Senrab 'A'
Echo League: Essex
Played Sun 19 Mar 2006
Senrab were quickest into their stride and for the first 5 minutes had Parsonage on the back foot, although neither side could find a break through. Parsonage began to get into their stride and now it was their turn to come at Senrab. Half chances for the home side came and went, but the break through came after 12 minutes. Jack Lawrence picked the ball up on the right and his turn of pace saw him skip clear and hit a low shot into the Senrab goal (Is it me or does he always score exactly the same type goal???). Parsonage continued to dominate the half and almost added a second, but were denied a second by a great save from the Senrab keeper, followed by good defending to stop Parsonage scoring from the rebound. Half finished 1.0
Parsonage started the second half brightly, with Callum O’Sullivan seeing a freekick go inches over the bar. 10 minutes into the half Senrab broke down the left, and from a tight angle a Senrab player hit a peach of a shot from outside the box, up and over Connors head and into the roof of the net. 1.1
Parsonage kept plugging away and got their reward 5 minutes later through a brilliant piece of individualism from Callum O’Sullivan. He battled for a bouncing ball on the edge of the area, controlled it with his chest and with his back to goal, spun, and hit a stunning volley, giving the Senrab keeper no chance. Five minutes later O’Sullivan should have wrapped the game up, but saw his strike saved well by the Senrab keeper. At 2.1 up, Parsonage played 4 in midfield, which prevented Senrab from coming back. Finished 2.1.
I am very proud of the two performances the team have put in following the lacklustre performance against Buckhurst Hill two weeks ago. Again we showed good character, in not panicking when Senrab equalised and battled back well to get the result we deserved. I cannot fault the commitment the team is now showing at the moment, lets hope we can keep it up in our final two league matches.
