Parsonage    3   v   0    Aztec 'A'

Echo League: Essex

Played Sun 12 Mar 2006

The game started evenly with the ball being either up in the air or off the pitch, more that on it.  The game settled down, but was scrappy with limited chances for both teams.  The turning point came, when the Aztec keeper took a goal kick from the corner of the penalty area, straight into the path by Jack Clark, who controlled it well and smashed the ball into the open goal, before the keeper could run back.  1.0 half time.

Both teams played this half much better.  Aztec started the brightest and had a couple of wide efforts con the Parsonage goal and then a deflected shot that sailed inches over Conners Head.  7 minutes into the half Ryan Mallett cleverly fed Jack Lawrence, who pace saw him skip through the Aztec defence and slot home under the body of the advancing keeper.  Ryan Mallett and Callum O’Sullivan had good chances to make the game safe, before Jack Bearman fed Lawrence again for him to score a carbon copy of his first.

Aztec pushed players forward and had a few efforts on the Parsonage goal that went off target and Ross Cope’s miss in the final few minutes was contender for “ Miss of the season”.  Finished 3.0

Following last weeks defeat a more determined and passionate performance was required and although our usual passing game was generally missing today the determination and will to win was back.  Well done boys.
